Heat Pumps
Heat pumps work like central air conditioners but can provide heat during cooler weather, as well. During warmer weather conditions, heat pumps will remove excess heat from your home and transfer it to the outside air. When temperatures are cool, heat pumps will extract heat from the outside air and circulate it throughout your home to add warmth. In very cold climates, like Wisconsin, a heat pump will be paired with a gas furnace to handle the extreme cold temperatures of winter. When the outside temperatures are not bitterly cold but cool, the heat pump will handle the heating and use the furnace as a blower to circulate the warmer air throughout the home. During very cold conditions, the heat pump will shut down and the furnace will kick on to provide all the heating for the home. Heat pumps help maintain a comfortable environment while using lower energy consumption than traditional heating and cooling systems.
